Sound
How does sound work?
Sound is caused by vibrations that create acoustic waves weather it's in air, water or gas.
Sound is important when doing audio recording as the environment around you can effect the quality of your recording.
For example:
A room with high ceiling, hard floor and empty space will cause sound to REVERB as the sound has to travel further while also not being absorbed by nearby surfaces.
A room with a thick carpet, cushions and other fabrics will reduce the amount of REVERB in the room as it absorbs most of vibrations of sound which in turn makes the sound quality more DRY and quiet.
How to reduce reverb for sound recording?
In order to reduce reverb in your working area for your recordings you can:
- Add Acoustic tiling to reduce the reverb in the room making your audio quality much clearer and sharper.
- Record in a room that has carpet, low ceiling and soft fabric furniture to reduce reverb.
